High School Hallways is brief weekly digest of happenings in McKinney area high schools.

McKinney Independent School District (MISD)

1) MISD Board of Trustees Addresses Class Size Issues
During the most recent McKinney ISD Board of trustees meeting on September 25 a key topic discussed was the status of the district’s adherence to Texas Education Agency (TEA) guidelines for class sizes and a vote regarding requests for waivers. Read More.

2) McKinney Sunrise Rotary Club Establishes Endowed Scholarship Fund with MEF
Ted Cantrell, President of the McKinney Education Foundation, was the featured speaker to present an update about the programs of the McKinney Education Foundation on Wednesday, Oct 10 at their weekly club meeting at Eldorado Country Club. Read More.

3) Volleyball Scoreboard: MHS Remains Winless in District Play, While North Falls To First-Place Lovejoy
It was a tough night of volleyball for these two varsity programs on Friday. Read More.

4) Football Scoreboard: MHS Drops District Opener, While North Can’t Overcome Undefeated Lovejoy
The Lions lost 38-20 to Plano High School while the Bulldogs fell 24-17 in disappointing defeats for both squads. Read More.

5) McKinney High School Kicks Off Homecoming Festivities with Parade
It was Lion country in downtown McKinney on Saturday morning as McKinney High School kicked off Homecoming festivities with a parade. Read More.

6) Reel McKinney: The Doctor Is In … MHS’ Logan Faris Shares His Practice With Stuart J’s Lens
Dr. Logan Faris is one of the most important people in McKinney. He may be one of the three high school principals in McKinney ISD but under his watch, “the” McKinney High School is soon to be the “new” McKinney High School, as the old structure goes through a metamorphosis. Watch The Video.

7) North Tennis Close Out Regular Season with Win Over JJ Pearce
 The McKinney North tennis team closed out its regular season with a tune-up win over JJ Pearce by a score of 15-4. Read More.

8) North JV Girls Golf Finishes Second in Tournament
 The McKinney North JV golf team finished second in the team’s second tournament of the fall season at Willow Springs Golf Course in Haslet. The Lady Bulldogs finished runner-up in a seven-team field. Read More.

9) North Tennis Team Blows Out Denison
 The McKinney North tennis team closed out district round robin play Tuesday with an 18-1 blowout win over Denison. Read More.

10) Bailadora Dance Clinic Scheduled for October 20th
 The National Championship winning McKinney Boyd Bailadoras are hosting their annual Fall Mini Bailadora Dance Clinic on Saturday, October 20th at Boyd High School. Read More.

11) TSB’s Football Game of the Week: Boyd Blasts Plano West in District 10-5A Opener
 Three years ago, McKinney Boyd walked into Clark Stadium in Plano and was soundly defeated 84-40 by the Plano West Wolves. Read More.

12) TSB’s Volleyball Game of the Week: Boyd Wins Pivotal District Match Over Plano
 Red and navy trickled in and filled the stands as the McKinney Boyd Lady Broncos volleyball team ran onto the court Friday night, ready to defeat the Plano Wildcats in one the most highly anticipated matches of the district season. Read More.
