High School Hallways is brief weekly digest of happenings in McKinney area high schools.

McKinney Independent School District (MISD)

1) MISD to Offer Spring SAT-PSAT Blitz Camps
This spring, McKinney ISD will offer three preparatory “Blitz Camps” to help high school students gear up for that annual rite of passage — the SAT-PSAT college entrance exam. Read More.

2) McKinney ISD Announces New College & Career Readiness Platform
According to College Board, only 43% of college-bound seniors in the U.S. are prepared for college, with fewer than one in two students meeting “college readiness” standards in Texas. Read More.

3) MISD Criminal Justice Club Wins Top Spot at Regional Competition
The Criminal Justice Clubs from McKinney Boyd High School, McKinney High School and McKinney North High School stole the show at regional competition held recently at Burleson High School, taking first place in 14 of 16 events. Read More.

4) McKinney Education Foundation Names New Executive Director
The McKinney Education Foundation has appointed Edie Heinicke as its new Executive Director.  Heinicke was selected after a regional search and selection process following Melanie Perkins’ departure in August. Read More.

5) Basketball Scoreboard: Full Recaps Plus Updated Standings in Districts 10-5A & 13-4A
MISD basketball was jam packed on Friday night as many teams tried to keep their playoff hopes alive, while some were looking to secure playoff seeding. Read More.

9) TSB’s Basketball Game of the Week: North Cruises To Win Over Greenville
After losing two consecutive games to Lovejoy and Wylie, the McKinney North boys basketball team entered Tuesday night with a one-game lead on Royse City, Sherman, and Wylie for second place in District 13-4A. Read More.

10) McKinney North Swim & Dive Breaks School Records at District Meet
The McKinney North High School Swim and Dive Team swam and dove their way to success last week at the District 11-4A Meet. Read More.

11) MHS Golden Mane Theatre Presents `Sweeney Todd’
A joint venture of all the performing Fine Arts disciplines at McKinney High School will debut Thursday as MHS’ Golden Mane Theatre presents “Sweeney Todd.” Read More.

12) TSB’s Soccer Kickoff: Lionettes Still Finding Success with Pantarotto
Alex Pantarotto is in his 19th season as the McKinney High girls soccer coach. This comes as no surprise since the veteran continues to be successful year in and year out. Read More.

13) Two MHS Football Players Selected to Inaugural U-18 International Bowl
Two McKinney High School football players will represent the United States in the inaugural U-18 International Bowl between the U.S and Canada on Feb. 6 in Austin, Texas. Read More.

14) McKinney Boyd Bailadoras Sweep Winter Classic
The McKinney Boyd Bailadoras dominated the Showtime International Winter Classic this past weekend in Keller. Read More.

15) TSB’s Basketball Game of the Week: Plano East Spoils Boyd Girls’ Senior Night
For the six seniors on McKinney Boyd’s roster, Friday night was the final time they would walk on their home court as Lady Bronco players. Read More.
