Heritage Guild Honors `Rain or Shine’ Policy at 40th Holiday Tour of Homes

Turning 40 is never easy and The Heritage Guild of Collin County is no exception!

Thirty-nine years of the Holiday Tour of Homes went on with rain, snow and not much more.  But this year was truly historic!  The winter storm “Clion” hit us hard (I do hope NOAA rethinks their new policy to name winter storms…) and left The Holiday Tour of Homes Committee with a tough decision…hold the tour or cancel?

We decided to honor our stated “Rain or Shine” policy and be there for those brave souls who made it out to the tour.  The two houses on Parker were not able to open due to power outages and trees down, but the other five homes were open, our teas went on and the Holiday Bazaar was open.  We had over 500 visitors from Collin County, Maryland, Oklahoma, Sherman, Denton, Lewisville, Waxahachie, Abilene, Richardson, Dallas, Lewisville and more!

That said, we know that this storm was a fickle one and left some with impassable driveways, power outages and trees down while others were able to navigate the roads just fine.

We would like to offer the following refund options to those who were unable to attend the tour:

— 50% cash refund

— 100% credit refund good toward any 2014 Chestnut Square event.

To receive a refund, please email info@chestnutsquare.org with the following information:

–Number of tickets purchased

–Where tickets were purchased

–Refund preference

Refund requests must be received by Wednesday, 12/11/13.

We’re urging everyone to hold on to their ticket booklets in case we are able to schedule a follow-up mini-tour later in December.  Even if you opted for the 50% refund, your ticket booklet will get you in the mini-tour FREE.  Please check our website at www.chestnutsquare.org for updates.

“I want to personally thank the hundreds of volunteers and the seven homeowners for their dedication to this year’s tour and the thousand of hours donated to get ready and hold the tour.” said Cindy Johnson, Executive Director, The Heritage Guild of Collin County.  “Many people who attend our events at Chestnut Square don’t realize that we area 501c3 non-profit and that we are only able to offer the events and education programs we offer due to over 10,000 volunteer hours and the generous donations from the public.  Next time you visit Chestnut Square thank a volunteer!”

See you at the 41st Annual Holiday Tour of Homes!
