Election results came in via the Collin County Elections web site at 8:31 p.m. on Saturday, June 18 and the Roger Harris campaign camp was ecstatic to see those results which declared Harris had won the run-off election for the McKinney city council at-large seat.
In the midst of his cheering supporters who gathered at his home, an emotional Harris thanked his wife, Jan, and his three children for their support and then thanked his campaign team for their efforts and contributions.
“Every one of you here has contributed in some way,” said Harris. “We had a great team and I sincerely thank all of you for your efforts.”
Harris, whose opponent was McKinney resident Steve Bell, won nearly 65 percent of the vote. He and Jan said that the last couple of days were very nerve wracking and that they are glad that the election is finally over.
“It feels fantastic to realize that we are going to be able to move forward and begin accomplishing the task the voters expect – to focus on economic develpment for our city. I look forward to working with my council colleagues to accomplish this,” Harris said.
Strategist for Harris’ campaign, Rob Temple, told TownSquareBuzz.com that the campaign was a lot of hard work and a difficult job.
“I’m very proud of our campaign steering committee – our team. We accomplished a great deal with our 120 / 120 campaign. Get 120 people out to vote and they get 120 more people out to vote,” noted Harris. “I look forward to rolling up my sleeves and getting to work for the city.”
