After accepting a friendly wager from Rep. Jason Villalba (R-Dallas) over the Nov. 15, 2013 Division 1 Playoff football game between the Allen Eagles and Lake Highlands Wildcats, Rep. Jeff Leach calls on his colleague to make good by delivering coffee and donuts to his winning team’s police officers and fire fighters on Saturday, Feb. 1. It was agreed that the Representative of the defeated team would deliver coffee and donuts, wearing the winning team’s colors, to the police officers and fire fighters of the winning district’s primary police and fire stations.
Having ranked number one in the state during the 2013 season and advancing an undefeated 10-0 record, the Allen Eagles declared victory over the Wildcats during the Division 1 Playoff game and went on to win another consecutive State Champion for the Class 5A Division 1 title later that month.
Stated Leach, “I am delighted to welcome my friend and colleague, Rep. Jason Villalba, to District 67 to show his support for the Allen Eagles! I could not be more proud of the Allen Eagles for their State Championship season and look forward to cheering them on again in 2014.”
“The Lake Highlands Wildcats had a tremendous season making it to the Division 1 Playoffs,” said Rep. Villalba. “I would like to congratulate the State Champion Allen Eagles and in doing so, I am extraordinarily proud to honor our noble first responders for their commitment to our communities.”
The Representatives will meet on Saturday at Max’s Donut Shop near downtown Allen at 8 a.m., followed by a delivery to the Allen Police Department Headquarters on 205 W. McDermott, then the Allen Central Fire Station on 310 Century Parkway.
