Grace Lake Ministries Therapeutic Horsemanship Program is once again sponsoring an ACTHA Competitive Trail Challenge on Saturday, October 6th. This time the event will be held at the beautiful Strange Ranch where the Grace Lake facilities are located at 9611 FM 1827, Anna, TX 75409. Anna is northeast of McKinney.
Six new obstacles have been prepared to test the ACTHA horses and riders. There will be ribbons for 1st through 6th place and extra prizes for 1st through 3rd in the Open, Pleasure and Junior divisions. You must be a member to earn points and receive prizes in these divisions. Register on-line at www.actha.us. Registration is $58 and a yearly membership is $35.
The ACTHA has created 3 new divisions for those wishing to try a ride at a reduced cost. You can join the ACTHA as a member and then register in the “Scout” division for $35 where you can earn a certificate and one point. Looking to try the obstacles at a reduced cost and not become a member, you may participant as a “Scout-Non- Member” for an entry fee of $40 but you will not earn any points. A “Buddy” rider may accompany another rider for $25 if they are a member and $35 if they are not. They enjoy a good ride in the countryside but do not do the obstacles, are not judged and do not earn points. All riders receive insurance coverage. The Riders Briefing Meeting will be at 9 a.m.
The ACTHA’s mission is to provide an enjoyable venue showcasing the wonderful attributes of the great American Trail Horse, granting them the recognition they so richly deserve. Competitive Trail Challenge Competitions are the fastest growing equine sport today. ACTHA donates up to 50 percent of its proceeds to eligible horse charities annually. There is information about the rules and the obstacles and how they are judged on their website www.actha.us. It is helpful if you read them before you come.
This ride will benefit the wonderful work of Grace Lake Ministries, Inc., a Christ-centered PATH member therapeutic horsemanship program located in the Anna/Blue Ridge, TX area which provides weekly lessons to those in need of hope and healing.
Grace Lake is located northeast of McKinney, TX. From US 75, take the SH 121 Bonham exit east towards Melissa. Turn right at the second light onto FM 545. Go exactly 5 miles and turn right on FM 1827. Grace Lake is the first barn and house on the right.
