Glen Oaks Elementary 5th Grader Clothes Three Children

Jennie Blodgett, a fifth grader at Glen Oaks Elementary, raised over $450 for Rachel’s Challenge.

Through a generous donor, students at Glen Oaks Elementary were each given $1 and asked to make a difference in the world and report back to their classmates. Jennie found a perfect family to help. A single mother with three young boys who needed clothing items and shoes for the summer agreed to let Jennie help them. The boys, Alexander and Christian are elementary aged students within MISD and have a younger brother, Johvany.

Going door to door in her neighborhood, Jennie shared her mission and goal to raise over $300. Her hard work and dedication paid off with over $450 collected. Jennie contacted the family and scheduled a shopping trip at the McKinney Old Navy store

Store Manager, Kim Mulkey presented Jennie with an additional $25 gift card to use and additional discounts. “I was amazed how many people wanted to help me help these little boys and all I had to do was to ask” said Miss Blodgett. Pictured is Jennie and the boys holding their bags of new clothing items.
