Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving is a time to give “thanks” for all your blessings, be it health or wealth, friends or family.  This month I pledged to give thanks everyday for something and for the most part the things that I’ve been thankful for were simple, yet profound to me at that moment.  For example, I’m thankful that my two teenage daughters have such a close relationship, for my family’s good health and for my successful business.  All of which are easily taken for granted.

As I checked my email this morning, a past client sent me a quick note to say thank you for finding her and her new family the perfect home to spend their first Thanksgiving together, I was touched.  I never take for granted that being a Realtor allows me to work with only the clients I choose to do business with or that assisting a family buy or sell a home is a very personal experience and that they are counting on my experience and knowledge to lead them in the right direction.

You see, this particular client is a newlywed, married just under a year.  Both were previously married with two children from those marriages.  That’s a total of four children, ranging in age from 7 to 14.  And I was lucky enough to meet all four and was impressed with their manners and how well they all got along.  The uniqueness of their situation was that they are not only blending their families, but they are also in the final stages of adopting a special needs orphan from Haiti.  So finding the perfect home for this incredibly generous client wasn’t as simple as finding a three bedroom two bath home in their price range with good schools.  It was a task, and although I was up for it, we were under a pressure cooker trying to find the perfect home in as little time as possible.  And we did!

The email from my client read: “Thank you for your patience and for listening to our needs.”  The reason that I decided to share this today is because I felt as blessed as my clients that they chose me to help them make the biggest purchase of their life together, with their precious new family.

Being a Realtor, I’m truly blessed to get to be a part of some the biggest decisions made in a person or family’s lives.  Like helping a young couple with buying their first home, then later on buying up as they grow their families.  Or by assisting empty nesters downsize or settle in to where they plan to retire.  Or even working with a relocating family that is starting their lives over in a brand new place.  I’m an integral part of making the move, buy or sell a memorable, in a good way, experience.  And I don’t take it lightly.

So on this day I give a big thanks to all my past, present and future clients, and the opportunities I’ve been given to be a part of such a profound job.  Thank you for your trust, for your eagerness and especially for having all your financials in order!  I pledge to never take you and your desire to be a home owner for granted and to always fight for your best interest, the best price and the best home for you and your family.

Happy Thanksgiving Season!
