McKinney North remained near the top of the District 17-4A girls soccer standings with a 2-0 win over Prosper on Tuesday at North. Hadlie Tucker and Jackie Bucy each scored from long range for the Lady Bulldogs (8-4-1, 4-1).
Prosper dropped to 2-2-1 in league games.
The Lady Eagles (9-3-2) dominated possession in the early moments but could not get past the McKinney North back four.
In the 17th minute, Tucker took a ball that had been played near the top of the box and fired a shot from about 30 yards away, beating Prosper keeper Alina Cahill near the top of the net.
North, second in district behind 5-0-0 McKinney, added to its lead in the 67th minute. Jackie Bucy, from the corner left of the goal, wrapped her corner kick inside the far post as the Lady Eagles watched the ball sail by.
North goalie Clarissa Ledesma, who survived a yellow card in the 31st minute, stopped six shots on goal.
Prosper won the junior varsity match, 8-0. The Lady Bulldogs travel to Denison on Friday in another 17-4A match.
