The Lady Mustangs swamped Lucas Christian 47-17 Thursday night running their record to 3-0 on the season. The Mustangs overwhelmed the Warriors with a stifling full court press in running out to a 24-0 first quarter lead with Kaitlynn McAdams dropping in 15 points in the opening period, including her third trey of the season. Freshman point Julie James hit for 5, and junoir forward Sidney Thompson hit a baseline 12 footer. The freshman backups got into the action early as forward Kacie Zanetell made two baskets and backup shooting guard Missy Grollnek added another.
Grollnek got the Mustangs going again in the second period with her first career 3 pointer, but the Mustang attack cooled considerably after scoring only 1 more point, a free throw by senoir shooting guard Natalie Lemieux as MCA held a 28-7 lead at the half.
McAdams went back to work in the 3rd with 6 more points and hit another trey to start the 4th before giving way to the second unit entirely early in the last period. She finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds as the Mustangs cruised to a 47-17 final margin. Thompson ended with 6 points. James ended with 5 points, 7 assists, 5 steals and 5 rebounds. Nat Lemieux also added 5 points, 4 steals and 3 assists and Grollnek totaled 5 points as well. Zanetell had 4 points and 6 rebounds and Soph Lauren Sanford added a single basket.
The Mustangs are next in action next Tuesday (11/15) at MCA versus Paris Home School at 6:15 p.m.
