`Getting Started at Collin College: For New Students’ is Coming Up Soon

Submitted by Marisela Cadena-Smith, Collin College

Starting at a new institution can be overwhelming, and the Collin College Destination College program wants to help ease that transition with its “Getting Started at Collin College: For New Students” workshop from 6:30-8 p.m. on March 5 at the Spring Creek Campus Conference Center (2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano).

Perfect for students beginning Collin in the summer or fall of 2013, this workshop walks attendees through each step of the “getting started” process, from admissions to testing and advising.

Destination College Coordinator Brooke Ingersoll said participants will have the opportunity to speak individually with representatives from various student services departments.

“This session will be a prequel, of sorts, to freshmen orientation,” Ingersoll said. “Often times, students are not sure where to start or how to begin, so this is a great chance for them to come on out and hear from the people that can help along the way.”

Interested parties should note no dual credit information will be discussed during the session. While this event is free to attend, registration is required. To register, visit www.collin.edu/destinationcollege. For questions, call 972.377.1772.
