MCKINNEY HIGH (1-1, 5-2) AT PLANO WEST (0-2, 3-4)

When: Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Where: Murphy’s Kimbrough Stadium

MHS Injury News: No injuries reported.

3 Questions with MHS Head Coach Jeff Smith:

Q: After watching the film, how impressed were you about your team’s win last week versus Plano East?

A: “I was just real proud of our kids and just the approach our kids took heading into that game. I thought we bounced back really well after that tough loss to Plano and I thought our kids came out ready to play.”

Q: Do your kids know they are in the thick of the playoff chase in District 10-5A?

A: “They are. Obviously we do take it one game at a time and that’s the approach this team has done really well. Our kids had to get over the win against East and focus on West immediately and know the importance of these last three games. If you go out and win this game, obviously the playoff chances go from good to great. Kids know that and know how important it is, and that is why you go out and play. This is the spot you want to be in as a team.”

Q: What is the scouting report on Plano West?

A: “They have played the two teams that are one and two in the district right now. Plano West is one of the best teams that we have seen on video, even though they are 0-2. They are just big and physical on both offensive and defensive lines. They have a great quarterback and two really good running backs that can take it the distance any time they touch the ball. On defense they bring a lot of pressure, so I just think they are a well-coached team. They are going to be a good challenge.”

ALLEN (2-0, 6-1) AT MCKINNEY BOYD (2-0, 5-2)

When: Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Where: Ron Poe Stadium

Boyd Injury News: No injuries reported.

3 Questions with Boyd Head Coach Don Drake:

Q: What are your thoughts on your team’s big road win at Plano last week?

A: “That was a hard-fought football game. It was two good football teams going at each other, and fortunately we were able to force a couple of turnovers there late in the game and seal the victory. It was a pretty exciting ballgame and I was proud of the way the kids kept fighting to the finish.”

Q: The winner of the game versus Allen will clinch a playoff spot and put them in sole possession of first place. How big is that on the minds of your players?

A: “It’s a one game at a time focus for us. They know (Friday)nnight is for sole possession of first place. They realize that one of us is going to walk off the field with the lead in the district race and they understand how important that is. Ever since we won a district championship in 2010, it has always been our goal to go back and win another one. The kids put themselves in position to at least capture the lead in that race, so it is a pretty big ball game for us.”

Q: What is the scouting report on Allen?

A: “They are a very good football team and they have been for several years now. They are very strong defensively and have a big offensive line. They run the football well and have a very athletic quarterback in Murray, so they have the potential to be very explosive offensively. It’ll be a big challenge no doubt.”

MCKINNEY NORTH (1-3, 1-6) AT GREENVILLE (0-4, 0-7)

When: Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Where: Greenville H.S.

North Injury News: No injuries reported.

3 Question with North Head Coach Mike Fecci:

Q: How has your team responded after last week’s tough home loss to Wylie?

A: “They responded great and just the way you would want them too. They had a great Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and had a really physical week. It wasn’t designed that way; they just made it that. It was a good week.”

Q: What is your team’s approach the final three games of the season as you try and stay in the playoff chase in District 13-4A?

A: “We have got to win this one first. What we really need to do is win out, because if we can win out we give ourselves a good shot. We have got to get a little help by Wylie not winning a couple games, but like I said we will go out there and play and see what happens. Wylie plays Denison is a nice big ballgame there, so if Denison can pull that one off and win it, we know what we have to do after that. But we just have to go out there and win out. It’s that simple.”

Q: What is the scouting report on Greenville?

A: “They look a lot better than what their record is. They are just struggling with confidence. They aren’t struggling with ability and effort and haven’t been beaten badly by anyone else other than Wylie. They are a real talented group of kids who are fast and very skilled, but they are just struggling with confidence as they try and turn a corner. We have to go play out there which will be a challenge for us.”
