Texas is HOT; and, heat is dangerous and sometimes fatal. The elderly and very young are most vulnerable to the effects of extreme heat. The McKinney Fire Department, Community Lifeline Center, McKinney Noon Lions Club, and TXU Energy have partnered to provide FREE box fans to individuals meeting established guidelines.
If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, please stop by Wysong Central Fire Station on Monday, June 20th between 9 AM and 2 PM. Just bring a state-issued form of identification as well as a copy of your electric bill. Fans, donated through the generosity of McKinney Noon Lions Club and a grant from TXU Energy, will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis and limited to the quantity on hand.
As an added benefit, TXU Energy customers will also be able to inquire about receiving window a/c’s, ceiling fans, and weatherization kits for their homes. Qualifications are based on income level and individual must own their home. All recipients of these extra benefits must be qualified by Community Lifeline Center’s case manager.
In addition, visitors to this event may request a home visit by the Fire & Life Safety Education Division of the McKinney Fire Department to provide fire prevention and safety assessments, review of the number and placement of smoke alarms, and INSTALLATION OF FREE SMOKE ALARMS as appropriate.
Please share information on this event with everyone you know – your church and civic groups, homeowners associations, friends, family, and neighbors. We never know when something as simple as giving someone a fan, or changing the battery in a smoke alarm may save a life!
