A federal grand jury has indicted former Melissa Mayor David Dorman on charges that he solicited $70,000 dollars in a 2007 bribery scheme involving the annexation of land to McKinney.
Reports claim that Dorman, 66, is alleged to have received a $10,000 cash payment and two $10,000 checks from developer John Christie. Christie, 65, of Frisco, was charged with misprison of a felony (failing to report knowledge of a felony to the appropriate authorities).
Dorman’s attorney, Dallas-based Barry Sorrels, said his client will vigorously fight the charges. This case concerns approximately 23 acres of undeveloped land at the corner of State Highway 5 and State Highway 121.
Dorman failed in a 2009 re-election bid. He later announced his candidacy for Collin County Commissioner but withdrew from the race. Dorman has also written several political commentaries for Town Square Buzz.
