Led by past American Idol contestants, this master class is a special opportunity to learn about the music industry and what it takes to get on a national show. Join Michael Sarver (Season 8), David Hernandez (Season 7), Alexis Grace (Season 8), and Lakisha Jones (Season 6) for an informative workshop filled with insider tips about auditioning and performing on shows like The Voice, X-Factor, and America’s Got Talent.
Michael Sarver established himself as a talented singer with a big heart and lots of potential during Season 8. A Top 10 finalist, this former oil rigger has become an adored singer with loving and dedicated fans all over the world. In 2010, Michael released an acclaimed self-titled debut album. A portion of the proceeds of this contemporary country album are donated to the DreamCenter, a non-profit outreach dedicated to helping inner-cities.
Singer/songwriter/actor, David Hernandez, gained national attention with his powerful voice and affable personality as a Season 7 American Idol finalist. In addition to American Idol, David has showcased his talents on The Ellen Show and The Today Show including an once-in-a-lifetime invitation to sing at the Inaugural Kick-Off Celebration ball for President Barack Obama. David’s unique pop sound keeps him in high demand performing at venues across the country.
Alexis Grace is the pint sized singer with a big soulful voice that shared her down home Memphis roots with America during Season 8. Alexis won the hearts and votes of millions with her pink-tipped hair and dedication to her young daughter, Ryan. She is an avid collector of vinyl records and radio host of a Memphis morning talk show.
After LaKisha Jones’ inspirational interpretation of Aretha Franklin’s “Think,” Simon Cowell declared that he “loved this girl.” The gospel and R&B influenced singer established herself as a leading contestant finishing Top 4 in Season 6. Since Idol, LaKisha has appeared in the Broadway musical “The Color Purple,” released an album and performed extensively across the country.
