The McKinney Boyd Broncos are making a habit of surprising people, and in turn, taking years of the lives of its fans.
And that trend continued Friday, defeating Plano Senior 24-23 on a last-minute touchdown to shock Plano Senior and move to 2-0 in 10-5A action.
Stuck on their own three-yard line with a minute to play, senior quarterback Curtis Ladd, scrambling to his right, zipped a pass to junior running back Dedrick Scrivens who sprinted 80-some yards, occasionally looking over his shoulder at the chasing defenders.
Boyd (4-3, 2-0) will have its hands full next week when they travel to take on two-time defending 5A State Champion Allen Eagles at Eagle Stadium.
McKinney High, however, continued its slide, losing it third straight game, falling to Plano East 35-23. The Lions are now 3-4 on the season and 0-2 in 10-5A action.
McKinney North suffered the same fate, losing in Wylie 38-24 to fall to 3-4 on the season and 2-2 in 13-4A play.
