Football Scoreboard: Boyd Finishes Non-District Out Strong, North Loses District Opener At Sherman

TSB looks at this week’s varsity football games.

McKinney Boyd:

The Broncos defeated Lewisville 42-14 on the road to improve to 3-2 on the season. Lewisville dropped to 1-4.

Boyd used 28 second-half points to secure the road victory, led by three Bryan Driskell rushing touchdowns from three, nine, and 13 yards. Driskell finished with 274 yards on 37 carries and four touchdowns. Quarterback Curtis Ladd finished with 104 yards on 7-of-11 passing, with one touchdown and one interception. Ladd also had 89 rushing yards on 13 carries. Running back Dedrick Scrivens had one rushing touchdown and Kevin McCormick had a 14-yard receiving touchdown in the second quarter.

The Broncos outgained Lewisville 541-313 in total yards while gaining 15 more first downs on offense (31-15). The top performer for Lewisville was running back Deandre Brown, who ran for 167 yards on 26 carries and one touchdown.

Boyd will return to action on October 12th when the Broncos host Plano West in the District 10-5A opener at Ron Poe Stadium. Kick off is set for 7:30 p.m.

McKinney North:

The Bulldogs lost their District 13-4A opener 45-21 at Sherman on Friday night and fell to 0-4 on the season. After a Justin Jones three-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter, the Bearcats would go on to outscore North 45-15 over the remainder of the game.

Quarterback Ben Dutze had a 56-yard passing touchdown to Tre Sanders in the second quarter, while the only other Bulldog points came by way of a 12-yard touchdown pass from Sanders to Gabe Constintine.

North will host its home district opener next Friday night at Ron Poe Stadium versus Royse City. Kick off is set for 7:30 p.m.
