Football: Highland Park Blanks McKinney North

The Highland Park Scots kept their perfect record intact Friday night by defeating visiting McKinney North 31-0 in a District 10-4A varsity football game.

The Bulldogs’ offense managed only 11 first downs and 130 total yards. Selwyn Smith led the way with 63 rushing yards. Quarterback Hunter Walling was 7 of 25 passing for 45 yards with two interceptions.

The Scots’ touchdowns came on three runs by Preston Miller, who gained 117 yards, and a 62-yard interception return by Mark Gottsacker.

North fell to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the district; Highland Park improved to 8-0 and 5-0.

The Bulldogs play host to Rockwall and Wylie during the next two Fridays at Ron Poe Stadium. North remains in the playoff hunt, and wins over both teams would assure them of a postseason berth.
