Flames from a residential fire in the historic district of McKinney could be seen shooting into the night sky from miles away on Monday evening as McKinney fire fighters worked to control the blaze that engulfed the home of  Robert  O’Donnell and Julie Vargo, 507 W. Louisiana Street.  Although the home was destroyed, no one was injured in the fire. The cause of the fire in unknown at this time.

According to McKinney Fire Department spokesperson Stacie Durham, the call came in between 8:30 and 9 p.m. When the fire department arrived on the scene the structure was already completely engulfed in flames and within a relatively short period of time the roof collapsed Durham said. Approximately nine to 10 trucks were on the scene.

Mr. O’Donnell was on the scene but was not inside when the fire started.
