Explore the Wildlife of Africa at Collin College

Stamp your “Passport” to the Wilds of Kenya from 1-2:30 p.m., Thursday, March 22 at the Living Legends Conference Center at Collin College.

Associate professor Daryl Rupp will present “The Wilds of Kenya” in support of the “Passport to the World” lecture series, a slate of presentations by Collin College faculty and staff about different areas of the world.

Rupp’s presentation will take the audience on a photo safari of Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, a 55,000-plus acre expanse of savannah, forest and wetlands north of Mt. Kenya in Africa, and address the issue of poaching.

“Poachers try to lower the animal populations of the most popular species. Neighbors really don’t appreciate the lions making meals out of their livestock or elephants tramping through their wheat fields,” Rupp said. “Wild animals roam freely or even migrate in and out. And yet the neighbors not only do not mind their presence but help Lewa with the poaching problem.”

Rupp’s presentation will showcase the beauty of the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and the animals there.

All “Passport to the World” events are free and open to the public.
