Zach Lee, the No. 2-ranked prospect in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, has had an outstanding year for the Class AA Chattanooga Lookouts.
Lee, a 2010 McKinney High graduate, was named the Southern League Pitcher of the Week for May 27th – June 2nd.
For the season, Lee has a 5-4 record with a 2.65 earned run average after 14 appearances, 13 of them starts. He has 65 strikeouts and 20 walks in 71.1 innings, allowing just 62 hits. Opponents are batting just .234 against him.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound right-handed Lee is 22 years old and was picked in the first round (28th overall) in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft. He chose baseball over going to LSU, where he’d signed to play football (as a quarterback) and baseball.
Lee was a standout quarterback at MHS as well, where he threw passes to teammate and friend Matt Lipka, who also went the baseball route and is a member of the Atlanta Braves organization.
