Entertainment Buzz: Salute To Veterans, Art And Blondes

Submitted By McKinney Convention And Visitors Bureau

Second Saturday weekends are always special in McKinney, and this coming Veterans Day weekend is no exception.  Below you will find a list of some of the best offerings this weekend brought to us courtesy of our friends at the McKinney Convention and Visitors Bureau.  And, speaking of friends, no matter what you choose to do this weekend, don’t forget to take a moment out to remember our men and women in uniform and what they do for us and for our country.  Thank you for your service. Your community is grateful.

Veterans Day Observation (Saturday-Sunday)

The City of McKinney’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony will take place Saturday at The Veterans Memorial Park beginning at 11 a.m. The annual sundown event takes place Sunday at 5:15 p.m., when the 350 names of Collin County Heroes inscribed on The Veterans Memorial Park Wall of Honor will be read aloud. Both events take places at Veterans Memorial Park in McKinney, 6053 Weiskopf Avenue in Craig Ranch.

Legally Blonde: The Musical (Saturday)

This feel-good musical comedy takes the theater-goer from the sorority halls of UCLA to the hallowed corridors of Harvard Law School as Elle Woods, accompanied by her beloved chihuahua Bruiser, becomes a serious law student to win back her man. Based on the film starring Reese Witherspoon, McKinney Boyd High School fine arts students share their talents starting Saturday evening with a dinner, silent auction, dessert and reserved seating gala. Show runs through Nov. 17. For tickets, click here.

McKinney Art Studio Tour (Saturday-Sunday)

Twenty-two artists and three galleries from the greater McKinney area are participating in the 4th Annual McKinney Artist Studio Tour (MAST) this year. MAST connects community with artists as they work in their studios, a collaboration that provides a unified voice among McKinney’s visual artists to generate awareness of local artists and enhance the public art experience. Tickets are $7 (free for kids 12 and under) and tours are self-guided. For information, click here.
