Welcome to one of the most festive weekends to be had in McKinney, Texas. If you are a fan of great music, holiday parades, and beautiful homes filled with Christmas cheer, you are in for a host of over-the-top holiday experiences. Check out the weekend run-down, courtesy of our friends at the McKinney Conventiona and Visitors Bureau.
Steel Magnolia (Thursday)
The country music duo who took the 21st century path of winning a television talent show (Can You Duet) to break into the public eye, Steel Magnolia comes to the McKinney Performing Arts Center. Opening act for the duo are winners from the McKinney Mash-Up! Tickets are $30, available here. 8-10 p.m. 214-544-4630.
13th Christmas Parade Of Lights (Saturday)
The McKinney Rotary Club presents the 13th Annual Christmas Parade of Lights around the historic downtown square. The parade, featuring the theme, “Christmas at the Movies,” gets underway at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Gather your family and friends to see all of the beautifully decorated and lighted floats as we kick off the festive Christmas season, McKinney-style. Then hang around the square for dinner and live music!
A Christmas Carol (Friday-Sunday)
This classic holiday tradition from the McKinney Repertory Theatre tells the story of greed and redemption. Tickets are available online at MPAC box office or by calling 214-544-4630.Tickets are $10, adult; $7, seniors & students; $5 kids 12 and under. In the Courtroom Theatre at the McKinney Performing Arts Center Friday-Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m.
Wales Manor Christmas Concert (Saturday)
Wales Manor Vineyard & Winery presents its first Music Under the Stars Christmas Concert featuring one of Texas’s most dynamic alternative country artists, Jon Christopher Davis. Admission is $10/person. Bring a lawn chair and blankets, but no outside beverages. Wine, margaritas, sodas and water for sale, and oven-fired pizza! 7-10:15 p.m. 4488 CR 408; 927-542-0417.
Holiday Tour Of Homes (Saturday-Sunday)
The first weekend of December has been The Heritage Guild of Collin County Holiday Tour of Homes since 1973! Every year five or six homes and historic structures are decorated for Christmas for the tour. Proceeds from ticket sales and raffle are a major component to the ongoing operation of Chestnut Square. Tickets are $20 at the door/$15 in advance; 12 and under free. 972-563-8790.
