Entertainment Buzz: Oktoberfest and Heard Celebration Highlight Weekend Activities

Your weekend choices are plentiful in McKinney; so say our friends at the Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Oktoberfest (Friday-Saturday)

Funny hats, polka music, tasty food, weenie dog races, a cleaning supply labyrinth, and McKinney-made Bavarian beer… must be time for Oktoberfest in downtown McKinney! Join the fun Friday evening (4-11 p.m.) and all day Saturday (10 a.m.-11 p.m.), brought to you by the City of McKinney and McKinney Main Street.  Gemütlichkeit, ya’ll!

The celebration includes:

— Laura Moore Fine Art Studios will again build a labyrinth for The Samaritan Inn, and host an art show on South Tennessee.
— Wurst VW Car Show on Saturday 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
— Walk to End Alzheimers Saturday at 7:30 a.m.
— Pancake breakfast Saturday at 9 a.m.

Heard’s 45th Anniversary (Sunday)

Help the Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary celebrate 45 years of bringing nature and people together. The whole family will enjoy fun nature activities, presentations, giveaways, and more! Concessions will be available for purchase throughout the afternoon. Also, enjoy a preview of Dinosaurs Live which opens to the public on Oct. 2. Event is open to the public from 1-5 p.m. for standard ticket prices. (Heard members are free.) 972-562-5566.
