Entertainment Buzz: Funny Ladies, Old-Time Cowboys and More

From comedy to thd old west. From arts to … ropes? Yes, McKinney has plenty to do this weekend.

Four Funny Females (Sept. 22)

Four Funny Females opens their sixth season at the McKinney Performing Arts Center, bringing comedy to the Courtroom.  Featuring four different personalities of Dallas comedians – Jodi Hadsell, Sherry Belle, Laura Bartlett and Linda Stogner, the 2011 finalist for Improve Funniest Comic In Texas.  The show is clean comedy away from the usual comedy club setting.  Get tickets here, or call 214-544-4630.

Spirit Of The Cowboy (Sept. 21-22)

A western festival aimed to preserve the life of the great western actors of the 50’s and 60’s. The festival will have something for the entire family including stagecoach rides, gunfights, stick horse rodeo, dutch oven cooking, music and sing-along, Friends of Skidboot, Western theater in the Chestnut Square chapel, and so much more. Saturday night, enjoy a dinner at The Pantry where you can sit with your favorite actors of yesteryear! Tickets and schedule of events available on their website.

Ropes Course Adventure Day (Sept. 23)

Treetop Adventures usually requires a group (10 or more persons) in order to participate.  On this day, however, individuals or small groups will experience the Heard’s challenging ropes course (reservations required). The Program will include the Team Power Pole and an exciting chance to soar down a 750 foot long zip line.  the Ropes course is located just 1.2 miles from the grounds of the Heard Museum; click here for a map to the course. $35 each. 927-562-5566.
