Entertainment Buzz: Concert, Art and Much More This Weekend

As we head into a weekend filled with Second Saturday fun and more, thanks to our friends at the McKinney Convention and Visitors Bureau, here are a few things to consider as we look to the weekend ahead.

Concert For A Cure (Sept. 7)

Join in the fight against cancer. McKinney’s own master’s degreed vocalist Elizabeth Leonard is putting on an unforgettable show. She will perform songs celebrating strength and courage from artists such as Aretha Franklin, Journey, Carrie Underwood, Maroon 5, Christina Aguilera, Adele and many more! Ticket sales benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Concert is Friday at McKinney Performing Arts Center, 8-10 p.m. Tickets are $12 and available HERE.

I’m Not Ashamed Concert (Sept. 8)  

This fundraising concert for Eternity Community Church will benefit the music ministry. Featuring a truly diverse atmosphere with people from different cultures, backgrounds, and denominations, there will be singing (in English and Spanish), praise dancing and Christian comedy. Tickets are $12 for adults, and $7 for those 12 and younger. Get tickets for this MPAC 6-8 p.m. concert HERE.

TI Jazz Band Concert (Sept. 9) 

The 18-piece Texas Instruments Jazz Band presents a summer concert at the McKinney Performing Arts Center on Sunday afternoon from 4-5:15 p.m. The band is in its 26th year and recently performed at the Cancun Jazz Festival. Tickets are $10 for adults and $10 for students. Get tickets HERE.

McKinney’s downtown galleries are showcasing the following art this month, beginning Saturday, Sept. 9, with receptions from 7-10 p.m.
