Entertainment Buzz: Collin Raye Set to Play McKinney Performing Arts Center

By Michele Stevens Bernard, TSB Entertainment Writer

When I see people using their power for good, well, it doesn’t get much better than that for me.  Case in point: singer/songwriter, Collin Raye.  For years, this five time nominee of country music’s most prestigious Male Vocalist of the Year award has faithfully used his time and talent to champion and advance awareness for a multitude of social causes.  His songs don’t remain songs.  They become anthems. In 2001, Raye was named Country Radio Seminar’s Humanitarian of the Year for this very reason and in honor of the countless ways he contributes to the world around him.  On Friday, April 20th, Raye will be bringing his chart-topping body of work to McKinney when he performs live at the McKinney Performing Arts Center.  Showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets are $35.00 and can be purchased by clicking here.  http://www3.mckinneytexas.org/mpac.aspx?id=18382

Opening for Raye, will be the multi-talented Imaj.  Labeled as a “Pop culture trendsetter” while Imaj is well versed in pop, as well as opera, (not to mention singling in Spanish, Japanese, Italian and German!) she calls country music home.  She has been featured in numerous commercials, magazines, newspapers, and television programs, and has appeared as a special guest performer for Gretchen Wilson’s Fan Fest, as well as opened for Soledad O’Brien and Lorrie Morgan, in addition to Collin Raye.

And for those who really want to be entertained, check this out:  get to the McKinney Performing Arts center at 7:30 p.m. on April 20th to catch the Semi-finals of McKinney Has Talent.  Stage talent of all sorts will gather together to compete during this 6th annual Talent Show presented by the McKinney Repertory Theatre. The finals will take place on Saturday, April 21st at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets for either show are $10 or for $15 catch both.
