Entertainment Buzz: Buster Brown Band To Rock Cadillac Pub

By Michele Stevens Bernard, TSB Entertainment Writer

Ready to get your groove on?  Friday night brings the funky, R&B stylings of The Buster Brown Band to downtown McKinney, when they kick it old school at The Cadillac Pizza Pub.  BBB always bring it when they hit the stage, a perfect way to rock in the weekend.

This legendary band has been “shaking it up” for 30 years.  They’ve toured the world and have shared the stage with the likes of The Gap Band, Stevie Wonder, Baby Face, Sheila E.  If you’ve seen them before, I know I don’t have to tell you how cool it will be to experience BBB live, up-close and personal.  You’ll be at the show for sure.  If you haven’t had the opportunity, Friday night is your lucky night.

Get to the square early for drinks and appetizers at the venue of choice followed by a pre-dinner stroll.  Be sure to cruise by Mitchell Park to check out the 4th Friday Drum Circle.  They start at 7 p.m. giving you plenty of time to get back to Caddy Pub to grab a bite before BBB takes the stage at 9 p.m. Some in my party will order the Caddy’s Kona Fire Pie, but I’m sticking with The Caddy Classic. While we may not all agree on which pie is best, we do agree on one thing: Best. Pizza. Ever.

For Saturday morning entertainment, get an early start and hit the Farmers Market at Chestnut Square.  It’s always a cool scene, and you have the added bonus of walking away with all sorts of good and good for you goodies.  The fun starts at 8:00 a.m. and goes through noon.  If you’re there around 11:00 a.m. be sure to take in a tour of the buildings at Chestnut Square.  Also available this weekend, will be 90 minute trolley tours of McKinney’s Historic District.  Reservations are required (972-562-8790) with tickets available for $10.00 adults, and $7.00 for students, seniors and military.

Saturday night brings the Children’s Chorus of Collin County to the McKinney Performing Arts Center stage, when they present American Passport Journey Through The World Of Music.  The program will celebrate the diverse cultural and historic significance of folk songs found throughout the world.  Showtime is 7 p.m. and tickets are $15 for adults and $11.25 for children.  Advanced tickets are $11 for adults and $7.25 for children and can be purchased by clicking here.

Fresh off performing for guests, including President George W. Bush, at last week’s MEF Gala, Saturday night finds Jon Christopher Davis set to take the stage at one of McKinney’s nicest downtown hot spots, The Grand Bar, located in The Grand Hotel.  Davis is currently featured in the hit television show Troubadour, TX, a behind-the-scenes docu-drama that follows the lives of singer/songwriters chasing their dreams across the Lone Star state.  As fate would have it, the episode featuring JCD is scheduled to air this Sunday.  Be sure to catch it on TXA 21 Channel 21 at 11 a.m. or on McKinney’s Channel 12.
