Elderly McKinney Man Hit by Car at Craig Drive and Eldorado Parkway on Friday

Update from McKinney Police Department:  In a statement released late Saturday morning, McKinney Police said that Mr. Szymaniak has died due to the injuries he suffered in Friday’s accident.

According to a statment released by the McKinney Police Department,  McKinney resident Donald Szymaniak, 79, was hit by a car at the intersection of Eldorado Parkway and Craig Drive on Friday, May 3, at approximately 4 p.m.

As Szymaniak was walking eastbound on Eldorado Parkway at the intersection of Craig Drive, a 2011 Mazda 3 driven by Amber Boren, age 37, also from McKinney, was travelling southbound on Craig Drive and collided with Szymaniak in the intersection.

The McKinney Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene. Mr. Szymaniak was transported by helicopter to Medical Center Plano where he is being treated for his injuries. The investigation is ongoing. However, there is no indication of fault on behalf of the driver at this time.
