El Shaddai Church has been around for 12 years, but by the end of the year it will be located right next to the heart of downtown McKinney at 607 N. Chestnut. Saturday’s groundbreaking ceremony will celebrate the beginning of its new building. The ceremony will be held June 16 at 10 a.m.
Building construction has started this week and the church is hoped to be finished by December. El Shaddai is a bilingual church. It will serve the community in the following ways: clothes closet, food pantry, ESL and Spanish classes, spiritual and family counseling, family nights, Vacation Bible School, IES Kidz Club, Community Handyman services, Alternative Holiday Festivals, Small Christian Bookstore, Welcoming Committee for local businesses, Evangelical ministries, and much more.
Its humble beginnings saw services take place in the homes of the long-term members. Since then the church has conducted service at 645 Industrial Blvd., in McKinney.
The church says it is interested in meeting the needs of the people first, in order for them to have the freedom to hear the good news the church has to offer. Within the next few months, the church also hopes to have a Church Carnival to help raise funds for the much-needed undertakings.
