McKinney resident and McNeil Elementary teacher, Donna Jones, has been an angel to many and now friends and family are returning the favor.
On Sunday, November 11, 2012, a golf tournament will be held in her honor in order to raise funds for Jones and her family. Jones has been a teacher in McKinney for nine years and is a wife and mother of two. Jones was diagnosed with breast cancer two and a half years ago and friend, Mary Lorenson, felt she needed to help: “They are such great people who love life and God. I was losing sleep thinking about her situation and I figured I might as well do something productive since I wasn’t sleeping anyway.”
The tournament will be held at Oak Hollow Golf Course, 3005 McDonald St in McKinney, with a shotgun start time of 12:30. According to Lorenson, they do not currently have a fundraising goal, but any amount will be an extreme help. Sponsorships are available and they are still looking for teams to participate. Along with the tournament, a silent auction will be held and the first 30 women to play will receive a free pearl bracelet. Cost to play is $60.00 for individuals and $240 for a foursome.
