Downtown McKinney Chosen as New Location for Wish 100 Cycling Event

Submitted by City of McKinney

The City of McKinney in partnership with Make-A-Wish® North Texas, McKinney Velo Club and Matrix Cycling Club is proud to announce the 4th annual Wish 100 cycling event taking place on Oct. 6 in Historic Downtown McKinney.

This 60-mile ride through McKinney and surrounding cities in Collin County will bring North Texas cycling enthusiasts together to raise funds for wishes of children battling life-threatening medical conditions. Last year, Wish 100 raised more than $173,000, granted more than 500 wishes in North Texas and brought out over 1,250 riders. There are three planned ride distances – 62 miles, 42 miles and 12 miles.

“We are proud to partner with Make-A-Wish® North Texas, McKinney Velo Club and Matrix Cycling Club to help raise awareness and funds in helping making these wishes come true. There are so many wonderful causes that our great citizens support and I feel confident that by working together, we can ensure that wishes are granted this year in Collin County. Downtown McKinney will roll out the red carpet and welcome riders, family and friends,” said Ty Lake, Main Street and MPAC Director.

“More than 1,200 children in North Texas will be diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions this year. Wish 100 is not just a bicycle rally, but rather an entire experience that unites companies, communities and most importantly, brings hope, strength and joy to deserving children and families,” said Scotty Landry, CEO, Make-A-Wish North Texas.

On Saturday on-site registration and packet pickup opens at 6 a.m. on 271 S. Tennessee St. at the corner of Tennessee St. and Davis St. The ride begins at 8 a.m. A celebration picnic starts immediately following the morning ride for riders, friends, family, sponsors and fans.

Sponsors to date for this year’s event include Ericsson, Cooks Children’s Hospital, Richardson Bike Mart, FIAT of McKinney, PepsiCo and FreshCoat Paint. For course, registration and fundraising information, please visit www.wish100tx.org.
