Dowell Girls Beat Piner in 7th Grade Hoops

The Dowell Lionettes’ 7th grade Blue basketball team pulled out an impressive win in overtime against the Lady Wildcats of Sherman Piner Middle School last night. The final score was 19-16. The Lionettes kept fighting back to tie the game up at the end of regular play and then pull away during the extra period.  Danielle Boggs, who scored 7 points, earned offensive player of the game. Defensive player of the game goes to Rylie Simmons with 6 steals.  Liz Spivey earned overall player of the game with some key steals and quick game-winning baskets.

The Gold team struggled and lost 33-25.  Alex Coleman earned overall player of the game with 15 points and 6 steals.

The White team pulled out another victory winning 26-6. Mary Carson Johnson with a career high 8 points earned offensive player of the game. Tia Fields and Myah Bowen co-earned defensive player of the game with rebounds, steals, and causing many turnovers for the other team.  Kamryn Scamperle was all over the court on both offense and defense earning overall player of the game.

The Lionettes’ next match will take place against the Lady Yellowjackets from McDaniel Middle School of Denison here at Dowell on February 13, 2012. The Blue team will take the court first at 5:00pm, followed by the Gold and White teams.
