Only two teams from McKinney are alive and well in the UIL Basketball Playoffs, dreaming of a state title. They are both from McKinney North, where the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs finished a combined 28-0 in District 13-4A competition this season.
The McKinney North boys basketball team will open the UIL playoffs on Tuesday, Feb. 18, against Marshall High. The bi-district round game will be held at Wills Point High School and will tip off at 6 p.m. The Bulldogs are a No. 1 seed after going unbeaten in winning District 13-4A. Marshall is the No. 4 seed out of 14-4A.
The McKinney North girls basketball team has advanced to the area round of the UIL Tournament and will take on Red Oak on Friday, Feb. 14, at Garland Naaman Forest High School. Tipoff time is 7 p.m. MISD announced tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.
The Lady Bulldogs, champions of District 13-4A, advanced by beating Mount Pleasant 65-28 on Monday in the bi-district round. Red Oak, which finished third in District 15, advanced by blasting Lindale 61-38 on Monday at Mabank.
