“Semper Fidelis, Always Faithful,” is the motto of the United States Marine Corps, and none are more faithful, generous, and caring than our Marines. Toys for Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve, and is yet another way these men and women serve our country. Founded in 1947, the program distributes toys to children less fortunate, who otherwise might not receive a toy for Christmas. To date, well over five hundred million toys have been distributed to delighted children across the country.
Last year, the DFW Toys for Tots Motorcycle Run was not dampened by the cold temps and intermittent rain. Faithful Marines, volunteers, and loyal motorcyclist lined the streets with their toys and donations, ready to ride for a worthy cause.
On Saturday, December 1st, please join the “Few and the Proud” at Family Power Sports in McKinney at 2110 N. Cenntral Expressway, either to join in the 47.1 mile motorcycle ride or just to support the program with new and unwrapped toys or a cash donations. Lineup and registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and kick stands up at 10:30 a.m. The scenic police escorted ride ends at VFW Post 2150 at 1710 N. Church St. in McKinney where more toys will be collected and lunch, live music and comaraderie will be on tap.
Ride entry is a $15 cash donation that provides a t-shirt and lunch, but all are welcome to donate and join the festivities. For more information, contact Family Power Sports, (972) 562-2077 or click DFW Toys for Tots. Let’s make Christmas a little brighter for some beautiful children.
