McKinney motorists are being asked to avoid the section of Virginia Parkway directly beneath U.S. 75 on Wednesday, Jan. 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., as it will be closed for construction at some point in the day. See the following information from the City of McKinney for more details.
As part of the ongoing TxDOT project to widen U.S. 75 from the Sam Rayburn Tollway to White Avenue in McKinney, TxDOT has informed the City of the following closure:
Both Directions of Virginia Parkway Beneath U.S. 75
Closed between 9 am and 3 pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2014
Both directions of Virginia Parkway underneath U.S. 75 will be closed for a few hours sometime between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, to allow crews to pour concrete for a portion of the new bridge. All main highway lanes and all frontage road lanes are to remain open throughout the day. Northbound and southbound traffic will be able to cross Virginia Parkway on the main lanes and frontage roads. The only portion to be closed is the small stretch of Virginia Parkway directly beneath the main highway bridges. A map of this closure is attached.
Significant delays are anticipated. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes, if possible.
As a reminder, this TxDOT construction project to widen U.S. 75 to four main lanes in each direction and three frontage road lanes in each direction will provide much needed extra capacity through McKinney. The project is anticipated to be complete in 2015.
