Dallas, Texas – The General Levi Casey chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution will host an event on Saturday, October 10th at 2 pm at the McKinney Veterans Memorial Park to thank and honor Collin County Vietnam Veterans. All are welcome to attend. Local Boy Scout troop 2150 will provide volunteer support as well.
General Levi Casey chapter is a Commemorative Partner with The United States of America Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemoration. The goal of the program is to assist a grateful nation in thanking and honoring our Vietnam Veterans and their families.
Chapter Regent Evangeline Beauduy explains the significance of this event, “DAR has a long history of promoting patriotism by honoring our veterans, and this event is particularly special since many of us lived through the war. We feel especially duty-bound to make sure that these Vietnam Veterans, who served their country and sacrificed so much, but often arrived home to negative press and blame, know how grateful we are for their service.” The chapter is hoping that many local residents will come out to show their support to these veterans as well.
The chapter obtained permission to create a patch in the image of the Vietnam War 50th Commemoration Seal. Each Vietnam Veteran in attendance will receive a patch from the chapter to honor their service and sacrifice to our country.
