Dance Instructors Tipped Police Off Months Ago About Sexual Assault

WFAA.com (Channel 8) interviewed three former instructors at Taylor Dance Center, who said they warned the McKinney Police Department (MPD) months ago about Dr. David Russell, the chiropractor charged with the sexual assault of two teenage girls.

The instructors, all of whom resigned over the summer months, grew concerned about Russell’s influence at the dance studio where Russell taught conditioning classes.

TownSquareBuzz has since learned from a source with close ties to the incident that the alleged victims went to the center’s owner, Suzan Taylor, about the abuse but when nothing happened, the victims went to the instructors, who then went to the police.

As for MPD, WFAA said:

McKinney police would not confirm past attempts to report misconduct by the chiropractor. Records show they were contacted last month about both teens, who have come forward with their stories.

WFAA will have an update on the story during it’s 10 p.m. newscast (11/14/11).  Meanwhile, TownSquareBuzz.com is reaching out to the instructors, MPD and Taylor Dance Studio.

Update (10:05 p.m.): WFAA reported (and TownSquareBuzz.com sources confirmed) that Russell and Ms. Taylor were involved in a relationship for approximately nine years.
