What will back-to-back no-hitters get you? Besides two wins for your high school softball team, they’ll also get you a few honors from the local newspaper.
McKinney High sophomore Chelsea Thomas was named the Dallas Morning News‘ Softball Player of the Week on Monday morning after blanking McKinney North and Richardson Pearce last week. Thomas struck out 15 batters against North and 10 batters against Pearce. To cap it off, she also hit a grand slam against North and went 2-for-4 against Pearce.
Thomas has a 2.15 pitching earned run average and a .434 batting average. She also plays third base. MHS is currently 8-4 in District 10-4A and in fourth place, having already clinched a playoff berth.
Thomas’ older sister, Ashley, plays softball for Georgia Tech.
