Weather permitting, Tuesday, May 24, through Thursday, May 26 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., contractor Mario Sinacola and Sons will close Custer Road between Virginia Parkway and Eldorado Parkway. The brief closure is necessary for the safety of the traveling public as well as the contractor while beams are set in place on the new Rowlett Creek bridge.
Message boards, signs, and flagmen will be set up on Custer Road at the closure locations to keep the public informed. Local access to businesses along the closure route will be allowed; however, through traffic should consider taking alternate routes such as Independence Parkway or Preston Rd. (both to the west) or Stonebridge Drive (to the east).
This work is part of a $33.7 million construction project to widen Custer Road from 2-lanes to
6-lanes between South Stonebridge Drive and U.S. 380. The estimated project completion is summer 2012. TxDOT and Mario Sinacola and Sons Excavating Inc. would like to thank area drivers and local businesses for their continued patience and cooperation as crews work hard to complete this project as soon, and as safely, as possible.

The Custer Road project is scheduled to be completed by April of 2012, as reported by TSB’s Cindy Evans. If you missed her story earlier in the week, please click the following link:
