TSB Community Links

Raul Cortez had his second appeal denied by the Texas Criminal Court of Appeals on Wednesday, according to a story in The Dallas Morning News.

He was appealing his death sentence for the most infamous and horrific murders in McKinney’s history. Cortez was convicted in 2009 in the capital murder of 18-year-old Austin York in March 2004.

Austin and his friends, Mark Barbosa, 25, and Matt Self, 17, surprised Cortez and two other men who were burglarizing the house of Mark’s aunt, Rosa Barbosa, 46. All four were killed execution-style.
