Volunteer McKinney Center is looking for volunteers for a variety of projects. If you have some time to donate, please consider the following opportunities to help out.
• Victorian Strollers. Downtown McKinney’s 31st Annual Dickens of a Christmas will take place Thanksgiving weekend. To add to the atmosphere of the old- fashioned family festival, volunteers, dressed in authentic Victorian period clothing, stroll the downtown square. Strollers must be able to tolerate the cold and walk during a 4-hour shift. If you can help as a stroller or sew outfits for the strollers, please contact Chestnut Square Historical Village. Look for “Dickens of a Christmas Strollers” under Updated Listings on the VMC web site.
• Build and Maintain Homes. North Collin County Habitat for Humanity is seeking volunteers to help build and refurbish homes. Adults and teens are welcome to help reduce homelessness and maintain livable homes. Teens age 16-17 can paint, work on building, but not use power tools. Volunteer to make a difference in your community. Look for “Build and Refurbish Homes” on the VMC web site under Updated Listings.
• Holiday Tour of Homes. Volunteers are needed to serve as hosts and hostesses for the Holiday Tour of Homes on December 3 and 4. The tour includes six homes in the historic district and three at Chestnut Square Historical Village. Volunteers will learn about the history of the home they are hosting and then share that information with visitors. If you can help, please go to the VMC web site and use Keywords “Tour of Homes.”
