The 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, approaches, and the Community Lifeline Center joins others in saluting our veterans and the many rescue workers who went into action on or following that terrible day.
Recently, the Community Lifeline Center received a generous grant from the Texas Veterans’ Commission. While veterans who met criteria of the CLC have always been eligible for services, this grant expanded those services. As a result, more veterans and their families have been in contact this summer with staff and volunteers at the CLC, and a renewed awareness of their sacrifice and contribution to our nation’s safety has resulted. Similarly, as Americans reflect on and remember 9-11, we pay tribute to those whose rescue efforts saved some and eased the final moments for victims. Many rescuers became victims themselves, as we all know. All veterans and others who help to maintain America’s freedoms and to stabilize the nation in times of distress deserve special thanks.
On Sunday, September 11, 2011, please join the Community Lifeline Center staff and volunteers in paying homage to those who served our country in response to the terrorist attacks. May God bless them, and may God bless America.
