Along with approximately 60 children who sleep at the Inn each night, the community is invited to bring their families to a fun-filled day with face painting, a cupcake walk, egg coloring, bounce house, balloon artist, music and food. The Easter Bunny will be on hand for photos with children. Activities begin at 11 a.m. on April 19 at 1514 N. McDonald Street in McKinney.
Girl Scout Troops, Student Councils, Youth Groups and more than 15 churches are assisting with the event as donors of Easter eggs and activity volunteers. The event is FREE and intended to introduce the community to the new initiative to help the growing number of families experiencing homelessness in Collin County.
About The Samaritan Inn
Founded in 1984, The Samaritan Inn is a comprehensive homeless program that helps willing people gain dignity and independence. There are currently 160 residents living at The Samaritan Inn, of which 60 are children. Last year, more than 500 families who qualified for the program were referred to other services because there was no room at the Inn.
