Collin College Professor Receives National `Triumph Award’

A Collin College faculty member received an honor for service to others.

Pat Pierson, professor of health information technology, received the American Health Information Management Association’s Triumph Award as an outstanding mentor at the national convention in Salt Lake City in October.

Professor Pierson was recognized for her tireless commitment to students and the health information technology program.

“I feel very blessed to be recognized,” Professor Pierson said. “The award is deserved by all the wonderful faculty, staff and students at Collin College.”

Since their inception in 1994, the association’s Triumph Awards have honored those professionals responsible for advancing the field of health information management. Each year, members nominate those that have demonstrated extraordinary leadership, volunteerism and talent.

The American Health Information Management Association is the premier association of health information management professionals. Founded in 1928 to improve the quality of medical records, the organization totals 61,000 members across the country.
