The commercial music program at Collin College welcomes nationally-recognized music producer Dr. Mike Bogle to speak about professional musicianship.
The lecture will take place at 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 26, at the Spring Creek Campus in Room B180, 2800 Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. This event is free and open to the public.
Dr. Bogle recently returned to the Metroplex from the Minneapolis/Saint Paul area, where he performed regularly at such Minnesota venues as the Dakota Jazz Club, Artists Quarter, Fineline, Mears Park and Heimie’s Haberdashery.
A versatile and dynamic musician, vocalist, producer, bandleader and educator, Dr. Bogle was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1992 for his arrangement of Chick Corea’s composition “Got A Match?” recorded by the University of North Texas One O’Clock Lab Band.
Dr. Bogle is an accomplished pianist, keyboardist, trombonist, vocalist, composer and arranger with credits including Irene Cara (musical director and arranger), Doc Severinsen, Bobby Caldwell, The R Factor, The Midwest Express, Jaco Pastorius, Burt Bacharach, Diana Ross, Tom Jones, the UNT One O’Clock Lab Band and Latin American artists Willie Chirino, Lissette, Gustavo Rojas and El Grupo Chequere (Tania Records).
Dr. Bogle has released two albums under his own name, Other Life and Eternal Family, which reached No. 28 on the Jazz Week Jazz Chart based on airplay.
