Cocktails for a Cause Raises Over $2,000 for Foster Care

By Matthew Bado, TSB Staff Writer

Rick Wells, owner of Rick’s Chophouse, Sauce, and Grotto Live in downtown McKinney, donated over $2,000 to Christmas Milk’s Cocktails With a Cause fund-raiser, benefitting foster care in North Texas.

Over the holiday season, all three establishments featured three creative holiday martinis that incorporated Christmas Milk, a product launched in Frisco in 2011. Priced at $8.00 each, Wells donated $6.00 to the Christmas Milk cause.

A friendly competition among three bartenders was set in motion in the fall to select a single featured cocktail but Rick liked all of them so much that they all landed a spot on the drink menu for Cocktails with a Cause throughout December.

Heidi Fausel, Founder and Chief Elf Officer, will donate the funds to Gladney Center for Adoption.

Fausel said,

“We are thrilled with the donation from Rick and Debi!  When Debi initially approached us with the idea of Cocktails With a Cause, we were excited and nervous.  What if people didn’t take to the idea?  It was uncharted territory for us. The crew at Rick’s, Grotto and Sauce blew us away!  They created 3 incredible drinks that the public loved and were able to raise over $2200 for children in foster care to help find them a forever home. It was beyond anything we expected or hoped!  With the huge success, we will be doing Cocktails With a Cause again in 2012.  Thank you to everyone involved – this was truly a team effort.”
