ClubCorp Charity Classic Benefits Smiles Charity

Hundreds of golfers enjoyed nearly perfect weather in late September while playing in the ClubCorp Charity Classic at the Stonebridge Ranch Dye Course in McKinney.  ClubCorp will donate a portion of the tournament’s proceeds to Smiles Charity to support its mission to build homes for severely wounded soldiers.  This event officially kicks off Smiles Charity’s fundraising efforts to build more homes for military heroes in 2012.  Several events including a fun run, a zumb-a-thon, a casino night, and the Smiles Charity Concert and Festival held annually over Memorial Day Weekend are already being planned for 2012.

In July 2011, Smiles Charity presented a check for $75,000 to Operation Finally Home to build mortgage-free homes for Levi Wilson, Sergeant US Army retired, and Alan Hornaday, Sergeant 1st Class US Army retired.  Their homes are expected to be complete by the end of November.

Smiles Charity hosted several events throughout 2011 including a successful Fashion Show in February, a Casino Night and Auction in March, a 5K fun run in May, and the 4th annual Smiles Charity Concert and Festival.  Smiles Charity, a McKinney based 501c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the community together to change the world one home, one family at time, hosts these community events to spread awareness of the need for affordable housing while at the same time raising money to build homes on a local level.  For more information, visit www.smilescharity.org.
