Community Lifeline Center is hosting a private sale on the square in historic downtown McKinney on Saturday, Oct. 12. Partnered with the McKinney Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Main Street McKinney, many downtown merchants are offering special deals for CLC supporters. Tickets to the event are available at www.communitylifeline.org, or at Nan Lee Jewelry, and are $20 until Oct. 10. After Oct. 10, tickets will be $25 and not available online.
“This is going to be a great event, and one I hope will become a McKinney and CLC tradition,” said Jaymie Pedigo, CLC Development Director. “I knew the merchants would be supportive, because they are all so great. And I knew getting the right people involved was the key. I first went to the Convention and Visitors’ Bureau staff, and then I approached Nan at Nan Lee jewelry. They were so helpful and encouraging, and jumped in immediately to help.
When I asked Windy Gallagher at Made in McKinney (Visitors’ Center) to get involved, she lent her talents and energy to help create the graphics and marketing pieces. Together, we started to create a buzz, and with the support of Main Street McKinney, more and more shop owners got on board.”
Here’s how it works: On Oct. 12, redeem your ticket at the Visitors’ Center downtown, beginning at 8 a.m., for a Careopoly game board. Plan to start your day with a cup of coffee or breakfast at one of the participating restaurants before the shops open at 10. Most shops will have extended hours that evening. A raffle and auction are more of the fun!
Each vendor is customizing their offer – so the discount might be 20% off your purchase, a specially priced meal, or even a freebie! Over 30 merchants are participating, as well as several restaurants. “It’s a win-win” said one merchant. “The funds go to a great cause, and it brings more shoppers are on the Square. There’s no downside! And the $20 dollar ticket price is a steal. You can easily save that on one purchase.”
CLC Executive Director Christine Hockin-Boyd reminded us, “The $20 is indeed a great price for a day of fun and savings! But more importantly, your $20 will offer a budgeting class to a family struggling to make ends meet, feed a family for a week, or help provide counseling to someone trying to deal with grief or PTSD. You, with Community Lifeline Center, can guide someone in crisis back to self sufficiency. Your $20 means so much, even if you don’t redeem it for a discount!”
“October 12 is game day! We’ll see you on the Square – shopping, saving, caring and sharing!”
