McKINNEY, Texas (Dec. 28, 2015) – As the holiday season comes to an end, the City of McKinney encourages residents to recycle their trees and other natural decorations instead of throwing them away.
McKinney and Progressive Waste Solutions offer curbside pickup for Christmas trees, poinsettias, natural wreaths and garlands as part of the green waste recycling program. Pickup will be on the regular trash day between Jan. 4—15. Remove all ornaments and lights and place the tree next to the recycling and waste bins for pickup. Trees with flocking will not be collected. Poinsettias, non-artificial wreaths and garland placed in brown paper lawn bags will also be picked up on the regular trash day.
McKinney provides two locations where residents can drop Christmas trees for recycling. Bring trees that are clean and free of decorations, lights and flocking to Al Ruschhaupt Soccer Complex at 1986 Park View Ave. or to the water tower on the corner of Eldorado Parkway and Alma Road in Gabe Nesbitt Community Park any time through Jan. 17. Signs will be posted for exact location.
For questions about tree recycling, please call Progressive Waste Solutions at 469-452-8000.
